NURTW Leader Gunned Down in Ilesa
The National Union of Road Transport Workers in Osun State is mourning the tragic loss of one of its leaders, Adeboye Ademoroti, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Ilesa area of the state.
Security sources speaking on condition of anonymity revealed that the incident occurred in the Olomilagbala Area of Ilesa during the late hours of Tuesday, November 24, 2025.
Police Confirm Fatal Shooting
The Osun State Police Command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the tragic event to journalists. According to Ojelabi, a doctor from a local hospital in Ilesa reported the incident to police authorities after two gunshot victims were brought to his facility.
"We received the report late yesterday," stated the Police Public Relations Officer. "The doctor of the hospital where they were rushed to reported the matter to the police. The doctor said two victims with gunshot injuries were brought to his hospital."
The police spokesperson further explained that medical personnel informed them that one of the victims, later identified as Adeboye Ademoroti, popularly known as Germani, had already died before arriving at the hospital.
Investigation Launched
Law enforcement officials have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police operatives immediately visited the crime scene where they recovered several cartridges that could provide crucial evidence.
"Our operatives recovered some cartridges from the scene," Ojelabi confirmed. "Investigation is ongoing to ascertain what really transpired. No arrest yet, but the tactical team has been deployed to the area to support the operatives on the ground."
The deceased served as the NURTW chairman for Unit 4 in Ilesa until his untimely death. The identity of the second victim and their current condition remains unclear as police continue their investigations.
Governor Adeleke's Response
In response to the rising violence, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has issued a strong warning against political violence in certain parts of the state. The governor has directed the Commissioner of Police to take decisive action against political killings across Ijeshaland.
In a statement released on Wednesday and signed by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke expressed deep concern about recent killings in Ilesa. The governor pleaded with political actors to respect the will of the people and avoid violence at all costs.
"The political class must submit to the people's will and avoid violence," the governor emphasized, while urging politicians to completely eschew thuggery and bloodletting in the state.
The community remains in shock as authorities work to unravel the motives behind this brutal attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
