Oyo Demolishes Suspected Kidnappers' Hideout

The Oyo State Government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow suspected to have been used as a hideout by kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons. The property, located at Lakoun Estate along Olomi-Olojuoro Road in Oluyole Local Council area, was pulled down by officials from the state Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, accompanied by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

Rescue Operation Precedes Demolition

The demolition followed the successful rescue of Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted on June 3, 2026, at the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan. The victims regained their freedom on Saturday after a coordinated intelligence-led operation by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and the Oyo State Police Command.

Investigation Identifies Criminal Hideout

Government officials stated that the demolished building was identified during investigations as one of the locations allegedly used by members of the kidnapping syndicate to hold their victims. Heavy equipment was deployed to the site early on Monday as the state commenced the demolition exercise under tight security provided by police operatives.

Government's Stance on Security

According to government sources, the action forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal infrastructure and deny kidnappers and other violent offenders safe havens within the state. The demolition, officials added, also underscores the government's determination to confront rising security threats and send a strong message to criminal elements operating within Oyo State.
