The naked body of a 70-year-old pensioner was discovered covered in ants following what authorities describe as a drug-fuelled sexual encounter in Thailand. The tragic incident has shocked the local community and raised concerns about drug abuse among older adults.
Discovery of the Deceased
Athipphat Wangsilabat was found unresponsive on a sofa at a property in Lopburi province on November 16. Police from Mueang Lop Buri police station received the emergency call just before 10:30 PM and arrived to find the elderly man dead with no signs of physical assault.
Investigators estimated that the man had been deceased for approximately four hours before their arrival at the scene. The presence of ants covering the body indicated that considerable time had passed since his death.
The Fatal Night's Events
According to police reports and witness statements, the property owner had invited Wangsilabat to participate in group sex with two other men aged 52 and 38. The trio allegedly consumed illegal substances to enhance their sexual experience.
The property owner admitted to authorities that all three men had taken narcotics before falling asleep. The younger men reportedly woke up hours later to wash themselves and called for Wangsilabat to join them in the shower.
When the elderly man failed to respond, the two men checked on him and made the grim discovery of his naked body already covered in ants.
Police Investigation and Evidence
During a thorough search of the premises, officers seized substantial evidence including crystal methamphetamine, syringes, drug-taking equipment, and used condoms. CCTV footage recovered from the property appeared to show the men injecting drugs, corroborating witness statements about drug use.
Investigators noted inconsistencies in the testimonies provided by the two surviving men, who were taken into custody for further questioning. The case remains under active investigation pending toxicology results and additional interviews.
The victim's body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a complete autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
