A police officer serving at the Hotoro Division, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sani Isah, has been killed during a violent confrontation between rival thugs in Kano State, just weeks before he was set to retire.
Incident Details
A source close to the deceased informed Daily Trust that the officer was deployed alongside his colleagues to separate the warring groups when he was allegedly struck by a bullet from a dane gun wielded by one of the thugs.
“He was working at the Hotoro Division and was sent out with others to break up the thugs. Unbeknownst to him, some of them possessed a dane gun, which they used to shoot him,” the source recounted.
“He was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.”
Community Loss
The source described the late officer, who had served for more than three decades, as a highly respected figure in his community.
“He was a good person who contributed immensely to society, especially within his immediate environment. He was just a few weeks away from retirement before he was killed,” the source added.
Rising Thuggery in Kano
