Police authorities in Ondo State have initiated a coordinated rescue operation for Adeniyi Adelana, the Baale (community leader) of Ode Eriya village in Owo Local Government Area, who was abducted on Friday, June 12. The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the incident through its Public Relations Officer, who stated that six assailants carried out the kidnapping under the cover of darkness.
Details of the Abduction
The police statement noted that the attackers invaded the premises at night and forcibly took the victim through a nearby bush path to an unknown location. Following a distress call, operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of B Division, Owo, were swiftly deployed to the scene.
Rescue Operations Underway
A full-scale search-and-rescue operation has been launched, with police combing surrounding forests, bush paths, and suspected escape routes. Tactical deployments have been strengthened across the area and adjoining communities to enhance operational effectiveness.
During the attack, the victim’s wife sustained a gunshot injury to her right hand. She was promptly rescued and taken to a nearby medical facility, where she is receiving treatment and responding positively.

Despite growing tension in the community, police have urged residents to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear. They encouraged cooperation with security agencies by providing credible and timely information that may aid ongoing operations.
