Rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big 30 Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping and Robbery of Gucci Mane
In a shocking development within the music industry, rappers Pooh Shiesty and Big 30 have been arrested alongside seven other individuals for allegedly orchestrating a violent kidnapping and robbery targeting fellow rapper Gucci Mane. The incident, which occurred on January 10 at a recording studio in Dallas, Texas, has led to federal charges that could result in life sentences for the defendants.
Details of the Alleged Crime
According to U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould for the Northern District of Texas, the crime unfolded during a business meeting arranged by Pooh Shiesty, whose real name is Lontrell D. Williams Jr. The meeting was purportedly set up to discuss the terms of his recording contract with one of the victims, later identified as Gucci Mane. Three music industry professionals, including Gucci Mane, traveled to Dallas for this scheduled appointment.
Once inside the studio, Williams Jr. and eight co-conspirators, some of whom had traveled from Memphis, Tennessee, executed a coordinated armed takeover. Prosecutors allege that Williams Jr. brandished an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a contract release at gunpoint. During the robbery, the assailants stole high-value items such as Rolex watches, jewelry, cash, and other personal belongings from the victims.
Arrests and Charges
Pooh Shiesty was arrested this week after being identified as the alleged mastermind behind the plot. His co-defendant, Rodney Wright Jr., known professionally as rapper Big30, is accused of blocking the studio door to prevent the victims from escaping. All nine defendants face charges of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping. If convicted, they could potentially receive sentences of up to life in prison.
Notably, the complaint reveals that within hours of the robbery, some of the defendants posted what appeared to be stolen jewelry on social media, providing investigators with crucial evidence. This brazen act has compounded the legal troubles for those involved.
Background of the Defendants
Pooh Shiesty's arrest comes amid a troubled legal history. He was released from federal prison in October 2025 after serving three years for firearms and drug charges, having originally been sentenced to 63 months. At the time of the alleged kidnapping and robbery, he was already on home confinement for a prior firearms conspiracy conviction from the Southern District of Florida.
The involvement of Big 30 adds another layer of notoriety to the case, as both rappers have significant followings in the hip-hop community. Their arrests have sent shockwaves through the industry, highlighting issues of violence and criminal activity among some artists.
Legal Proceedings and Implications
The Department of Justice is spearheading the prosecution, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges. U.S. Attorney Raybould stated at a news conference that the case underscores the dangers of criminal conspiracies within professional settings. The victims, including Gucci Mane, are cooperating with authorities, and the investigation is ongoing to ensure all perpetrators are held accountable.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential risks faced by public figures in the entertainment world. It also raises questions about security measures in recording studios and business meetings within the music industry. As the legal process unfolds, the case is expected to draw significant media attention and public scrutiny.
