A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Tayo Sobowale, has been publicly accused of attempted rape by a young lady in front of the entire congregation at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH). The incident occurred during a church event when the pastor was at the podium.
Lady's Testimony
The young lady took the microphone and recounted an alleged inappropriate encounter with the pastor. She narrated how he had sent her to buy pounded yam and egusi soup. She initially made an excuse because she knew 'this man is trying something again.' When the pastor insisted he would wait until she was free, she eventually bought the food and brought it to him at the 'Upper Room.' There, she claims he was 'all over me.'
'You were trying to rape me. I kept closing my leg, I was telling you no,' she said. 'You did it to the extent that you now said "OK. Wait." You stopped and then you now asked me to give you head. You don't remember that?'
She further claimed that when she asked the pastor if he touches other women the same way, he allegedly responded by asking if she thought the other girls who hang around him are virgins, mentioning 'Sister Rachel and co.'
Church Reaction
The congregation erupted in gasps of shock as the allegations were made. The pastor then stood and took the microphone to address the church. He said, 'She has told it right? And the story is sweet. Let me ask her a question...' The video cuts off at this point.
Background
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many calling for a thorough investigation. The Redeemed Christian Church of God has not yet issued an official statement regarding the allegations.
