Vice President Kashim Shettima has disclosed that certain individuals attempted to sow discord between him and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu just three months after they assumed office. Speaking at an event honoring former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, Shettima revealed that these persons, whom he declined to name but identified as being from Borno State, told President Tinubu that Shettima was plotting to kill him and take over the government.
Tinubu Dismisses Allegations
According to Shettima, President Tinubu dismissed the allegations as baseless. The President reportedly said, 'Their story did not add up. He said, when you gave me those clothes, I was an aspirant. I would not have been the candidate, neither were you going to be Vice Presidential candidate.' Shettima further explained that some people told Tinubu after the election that he was planning to use the clothes to kill him and take over. However, Tinubu wore the clothes afterwards because he is not fetish.
Call for Unity
Shettima urged Nigerians to foster unity and act as their brother's keeper, rather than merchants of division. He emphasized the need for collective harmony and warned against allowing divisive elements to disrupt the nation's peace.
