Suspect Arrested for Fatal Stabbing in Plateau Community

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace in Plateau State have apprehended a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man following a violent altercation in Bassa Local Government Area.

Incident Details

According to reports, troops from Sector 1 of Operation Safe Haven responded to a distress call at approximately 2:00 a.m. on May 23 regarding a fight between two residents, identified as Sani Haruna and Bashiru Saidu, in Bomo village, Bassa LGA.

Upon arrival at the scene, the troops discovered Sani Haruna suffering from severe stab wounds allegedly inflicted by Bashiru Saidu during the altercation.

Medical Response and Victim's Death

The victim was immediately rushed to a medical facility in Miango for treatment. However, medical personnel later confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Arrest and Investigation

Following the incident, troops collaborated with members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) to launch a manhunt for the suspect. Bashiru Saidu was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.

Authorities have assured residents of continued efforts to maintain peace and security across communities in Plateau State. They have also urged citizens to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid violence.
