A disturbing video circulating on social media shows the moment a suspected paedophile was confronted after attempting to lure a 13-year-old girl named Hadijat into his room. The suspect had allegedly proposed an affair to the young girl, who was hawking cocoyam at the time.
Witness Captures Evidence
A local resident witnessed the incident and recorded it from his window to gather evidence. After securing the footage, he confronted the suspect directly. The suspect, however, denied any wrongdoing, claiming he was only playing when he told the teenager he liked her and wanted her to come to his house.
“I was only playing,” he said in Yoruba.
Girl's Account
When questioned, Hadijat recounted how the middle-aged man told her he wanted to marry her. “He was asking me if I will be able to marry him, and I told him you are older than me. He said he is married. He asked for my name, and I told him Hadijat is my name. I said he is older than me,” she said.
The video has sparked outrage online, with many calling for the suspect to be arrested and prosecuted. Authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
