A tragic incident of fatal domestic violence has rocked the Sango-Ota community in Ogun State, leading to the death of a young man and the arrest of his teenage girlfriend.
Alleged Crime of Passion in Sango-Ota
A 19-year-old girl, Olamide Adewole, is now in police custody for allegedly stabbing her 22-year-old boyfriend, Ayomide Ajayi, to death. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025, was reportedly triggered by Adewole's discovery that Ajayi was being unfaithful to her.
According to police sources, a heated argument erupted between the couple at their residence located at 3, Anuoluwapo Street, Aluminum Gas Line, Sango-Ota. The dispute, centred on the alleged infidelity, turned violent when Adewole allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Ajayi in the chest.
Neighbour's Intervention and Police Response
Following the attack, the suspect attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by a vigilant neighbour. The situation escalated as a crowd gathered, threatening to mete out mob justice on the young woman. Officers from the Ogun State Police Command promptly intervened, rescuing Adewole from the angry mob and taking her into protective custody.
Detectives who responded to the scene arrested the suspect and conducted a preliminary investigation. A critical piece of evidence, the knife believed to have been used in the fatal stabbing, was recovered by the police. The body of the deceased, Ayomide Ajayi, was subsequently transported to the General Hospital mortuary in Ifo for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed that the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder.
