Three PWDs Arrested for Drug Trafficking in Anambra, Kwara

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested three persons with disability (PWD) for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The arrests were made during interdiction operations in Anambra and Kwara states, according to a statement released on Sunday, May 10, 2026, by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy for the agency.

Arrests in Anambra State

In Anambra, the first suspect, 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara, was apprehended on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Akpaka Forest in Onitsha. Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives traced Nwabara to the location, where he was found in possession of 250 grams of skunk, packaged in retail sachets.

During a separate raid in the Ogbunike area of the state on Thursday, May 7, another PWD suspect, Amos Kenneth, aged 25, was arrested. Kenneth was caught with a significant quantity of drugs, including 160.3 grams of Tramadol (225mg and 100mg), 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grams of Exol 5, and 176.93 grams of skunk.

Interception in Kwara State

In Kwara State, NDLEA operatives on patrol along the Bode Saadu route on Friday, May 8, intercepted a commercial vehicle. During a search, a passenger identified as Usman Salisu, a PWD, was found with 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed inside a brown school bag. The suspect was immediately taken into custody.

The NDLEA has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking across the country, regardless of the status or condition of offenders. The three suspects are currently in custody and will face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
