Troops from Sector 3 of Operation Safe Haven have captured a wanted kidnap suspect believed to be involved in the abduction of a retired military officer in Plateau State.
The suspect, identified as Abubakar Ahamadu, aged 35, was taken into custody at approximately 4:00 p.m. on May 20, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation.
Authorities link him to the kidnapping of retired Colonel Joseph Ajanaku, which occurred on January 4 along Rukuba Road in Bassa Local Government Area.

According to sources, the arrest came after sustained efforts by troops to track and dismantle kidnapping networks operating within the region.
The suspect remains in custody and is undergoing further investigation and profiling.
