Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace have successfully foiled an attempted armed robbery attack at a residence in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, forcing the assailants to abandon their operation and flee the scene.
Swift Response to Distress Call
Security sources revealed that the troops responded promptly to reports of gunshots at the home of Pastor Inyam Inyam in the Hwol Buju community during the early hours of Tuesday, June 9, 2026. The rapid intervention disrupted the attack and compelled the suspected armed robbers to escape before they could carry out their mission.
“Upon receiving the distress report, troops moved to the area and engaged in efforts that forced the criminals to flee the scene. The suspects abandoned their operation and escaped before security forces arrived,” the source stated.
Casualties and Injuries
Pastor Inyam and his daughter, Hannatu Inyam, sustained injuries during the incident. They were evacuated to a hospital in Mista-Ali for medical treatment. Further medical examination later indicated that the female victim had been sexually assaulted during the attack.
Evidence and Investigation
A spent 7.62mm special ammunition casing was recovered at the scene as part of ongoing investigations. Security agencies have commenced a full investigation into the incident, while troops and other security operatives are conducting follow-up operations to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Military authorities condemned the attack and assured residents that efforts are being intensified to bring the perpetrators to justice. They urged members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in locating the suspects and preventing similar incidents.
