The Bauchi State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in a brutal robbery and murder case, apprehending two individuals suspected of killing a 32-year-old man and stealing his motorcycle.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to the command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the tragic event occurred on December 16, 2025, in the Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area. The victim, Sirajo Abdulhamid, aged 32 and from Badara village, was travelling on an unregistered Boxer motorcycle.
He was conveying two female passengers: Khadija Abdulhamid, 25, and his wife, Asiya Sirajo, 20. Their journey to Burga village was violently interrupted by armed assailants. The robbers shot Abdulhamid in the head and fled the scene with his motorcycle, leaving the two women traumatized.
Police Response and Investigation
Acting on an anonymous tip received by the Bununu Divisional Headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, immediately mobilized a team. The response unit, led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP Jamilu Kabir, and supported by Danga Security and special hunters, rushed to the scene.
The team evacuated the critically injured Abdulhamid to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi. Despite medical efforts, he was later confirmed dead. An autopsy was conducted, and his remains were released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.
Breakthrough and Suspect Identification
Through diligent preliminary investigations, police detectives arrested two suspects:
- Isah Shuaibu, an 18-year-old male.
- Abdulsalam Shuaibu, a 20-year-old male.
In a crucial identification parade, the deceased's wife, Asiya Sirajo, positively identified the duo as the armed men who attacked them and snatched the motorcycle. The police have stated that investigation is ongoing. Upon completion, the suspects will be profiled and formally charged in court.
