An unidentified woman has been found dead on the premises of a church in the Obelewo area of Osogbo, Osun State, with her left wrist reportedly severed. The discovery was made public in a statement issued on Sunday by the Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu.

Discovery and Police Response

According to Iniedu, detectives visited the scene immediately after the body was discovered. Preliminary investigations indicated that the woman had allegedly been slaughtered, and her left wrist was severed and taken away by unidentified persons. The police have not yet established the circumstances surrounding her death or the motive for the killing.

Iniedu stated, “The investigations revealed that the deceased was slaughtered and her left wrist severed and taken away by unknown persons.” The FPRO added that efforts were ongoing to identify the deceased and determine what led to her death.

Investigation and Next Steps

The corpse was subsequently taken to the hospital for further examination. “The corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” Iniedu revealed. He also noted that the State Command Investigation Department had begun an investigation into the incident.

As of the time of reporting, the identity of the woman remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. The police have appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
