In a shocking domestic tragedy that has rocked the northern community of Jibia, the Katsina State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a newlywed woman for allegedly stabbing her husband to death just three days after their wedding ceremony.
The Tragic Discovery
Zainab Muhammad, a woman in her 20s from Katsina metropolis, stands accused of murdering her husband Abubakar Abdulkarim, popularly known as Dan Gaske, in their Tashar Buja quarters home in Jibia Local Government Area. The couple had exchanged vows on Thursday, November 18, 2025, with the fatal incident occurring on Sunday afternoon, November 23.
According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the tragedy unfolded while the groom was asleep in their marital home. Residents reported that the wife allegedly attacked Abdulkarim with a knife, inflicting a fatal wound to his neck that proved immediately life-threatening.
Final Hours and Community Shock
A relative of the deceased, Aminu Danladi, provided chilling details about the groom's final hours. Danladi revealed that he and other family members had been with Abdulkarim on the morning of the fateful day, making preparations for a family visit scheduled for later that evening.
"The groom returned home to prepare for the engagement before news broke that he had been found dead in cold blood in his house," Danladi recounted, dispelling circulating rumors that the marriage had been forced. He confirmed that the couple had maintained good relations prior to their wedding and showed no outward signs of conflict.
Investigation and Unanswered Questions
The Katsina Police Command, through spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, issued an official statement confirming the incident on Monday. According to the police account, the report was received at the Jibia Division at approximately 1:30 pm on November 23, 2025.
"Upon receipt of the report, detectives were quickly drafted to the scene, where the victim was found lying motionless in a pool of blood with a deep cut to his neck," the statement read. Medical personnel at the nearest hospital pronounced Abdulkarim dead on arrival.

The wife, reportedly previously married and divorced - a fact unknown to the groom and his family - was said to have exhibited unusual behavior immediately after the incident. She had allegedly appeared confused and visited a neighbor's house asking for food, which prompted older women in the neighborhood to investigate further.
When these concerned neighbors followed Zainab back to her marital home, they made the gruesome discovery of Abdulkarim's lifeless body and immediately alerted security operatives.
