Ogun, NEMA Give Building Materials to Wind Storm Victims

The Ogun State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has distributed relief items to victims of a wind storm in Oke-Agbede, Imeko Afon Local Council, to cushion the effects of the disaster.

Distribution Exercise in Abeokuta

Speaking during the distribution exercise, which included rice, beans, garri, roofing sheets, and nails, among other items, at the Trade Fair Complex in Abeokuta, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Mrs. Funmi Baker, stated that the government remains committed to the welfare of its citizens. Baker advised the storm victims to be cautious with naked fire and described the gesture as a worthy initiative by both the state and federal governments. She emphasized that the government would not rest on its oars in fulfilling its electoral promises.

Ensuring Items Reach Victims

Director of Ogun State Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Soji Durojaiye, stressed that the items must reach the affected victims and must not be diverted along the line. He called for transparency in the distribution process.

NEMA's Commitment

Also speaking, the Coordinator of the South West Zone of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Kadiri Olanrewaju, said the initiative was meant to improve the lives of the victims. He advised them to make judicious use of the items provided.

Local Council Appreciation

The representative of Imeko Afon Local Council, Hon. Jamiu Yinusa, acknowledged both the federal and state governments for the initiative and promised that the items would get to the affected victims.
