Police Arrest Suspected Human Trafficker with 3 Children in Niger
Human Trafficking Suspect Arrested with 3 Children

The Niger State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in combating human trafficking with the arrest of a suspected trafficker found with three young children believed to have been abducted.

Police Operation Leads to Arrest

According to police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun, the incident occurred on November 5, 2025, at approximately 5:00 PM at Diko junction. Police operatives from the Gawu-Babangida Division stationed at the location noticed suspicious activity involving a woman with three very young children.

The suspect was identified as Victoria Ebunoha Chukwumezie, a 40-year-old resident of Nyanya, Abuja. Officers quickly moved in and apprehended her after determining the children appeared to be potential victims of abduction and human trafficking.

Interrogation Reveals Disturbing Details

During police interrogation, Chukwumezie claimed she had taken the children from Lambata and was transporting them to Abuja for what she described as "care." However, police authorities remain skeptical of this explanation and are treating the case as suspected human trafficking.

The three children involved in this disturbing incident are:

  • Kazeem, aged 3 years
  • Ya'amadu, aged 2 years
  • Idris, aged 2 years

Ongoing Investigation and Family Reunification

In a positive development, police authorities have confirmed that the parents of all three children have been successfully contacted. The police are working to ensure the safe return of the children to their families while the investigation continues.

SP Wasiu Abiodun emphasized that the Niger State Police Command is treating this case with utmost seriousness and will pursue all leads to determine the full extent of the suspected trafficking operation. The public has been commended for their vigilance, and authorities encourage continued reporting of suspicious activities involving children.
