The attack, which targeted Gidan Waya and Jansauni communities, has resulted in multiple casualties and kidnappings, sending shockwaves through the region.

Details of the Deadly Night Attack

The violence erupted on the night of Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in the Yarkasuwa ward, Kurama Chiefdom, Lere Local Government Area. Armed assailants stormed the peaceful communities while residents were asleep. Four individuals lost their lives in the brutal attack, their lives cut short by gunfire.

The victims who were shot dead have been identified as:

  • Promise Korau, 18
  • Hycent Timothy, 19
  • Mato Shagori, 40
  • Markus Ishaya

In a further escalation, the gunmen seized twelve residents, dragging them away from their homes into an uncertain fate. The list of those abducted includes men, women, and children, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of this kidnapping in Nigeria.

Official Condemnation and Urgent Calls for Action

The Akurmi Development Association (AKURDA) confirmed the tragic incident through a statement released on Wednesday by its National PRO, Pius Kyauta Agaji. The association expressed its profound grief and strong condemnation of the brutal Kaduna bandit attack.

In its statement, AKURDA issued a desperate plea for intervention, calling upon:

  • The Lere Local Government Chairman
  • All relevant security agencies
  • The Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani

The community leaders are demanding immediate action to rescue the abducted, bring the perpetrators to justice, and deploy permanent security personnel to the Gidan Waya community to prevent future atrocities. They have also urged local residents to remain vigilant during this perilous time.

The association concluded with a somber note: "May the souls of those killed rest in peace, and we pray for the safe return of the abducted. We demand justice!"
