Husband Pleads for Help as Kidnappers Abduct Nursing Mother in Abuja

Families of victims abducted during a recent kidnapping attack in the Kubwa area of Abuja have issued desperate pleas to authorities for urgent intervention. Armed men stormed homes in the area last week, looting properties and whisking away women and children in a brazen assault that has left the community reeling.

Nursing Mother Separated from Newborn Baby

Among the victims is a nursing mother who gave birth less than 40 days earlier, leaving her newborn baby tragically separated from her while she remains in captivity. Her husband, Yohanna Ciroma, revealed in an interview with PSN that the family has been thrown into profound distress since the incident. According to him, the infant is currently being cared for by his sister, who is providing milk and essential care.

"My wife, who is a nursing mother, was also among the kidnapped victims," Ciroma said while recounting the harrowing event. "Right now, our newborn baby is with my sister, who is taking care of him and feeding him until we can rescue his mother."

He explained that the discovery of the abduction came after a colleague he had asked to check on his family raised the alarm. "One of my colleagues, I told him to come and check my house. When he got there, he said he had been calling my wife but she wasn’t answering. They had broken one of the windows," he detailed. "So I rushed back and realised she was not around. We ran into the bush searching everywhere. It is not up to 40 days since she gave birth."

Another Family Devastated by Abduction of Four Children

Another family also suffered a devastating loss as four children were abducted during the raid. Their mother, Gloria Anotu, pleaded with the government to rescue her children, saying they were taken without even having time to dress properly.

"What I want the government to do is to help me get my children. My children are the only problem I have now," she cried. "They didn’t wear any clothes according to people who saw the way they were pushing them. My last girl, six years old, was very sick."

Anotu also described how the attackers ransacked her home and looted belongings. "They broke into my house, entered inside my room and turned everything upside down," she said. "There’s nothing they didn’t touch. They went to my store room and packed rice, oil and everything. They packed all my clothes and all my husband’s clothes from the wardrobe."

Father Appeals for Swift Action from Nigerian Leaders

The father of the abducted children, Tony Anotu, said the trauma facing the victims, especially the children, is unbearable. "What we need now is help. We are Nigerians but we are living as slaves in our own land," he expressed. "The trauma those children are facing pains me. Their daddy is not there, their mummy is not there, and they are now in the hands of strangers with dangerous weapons."

He appealed directly to Nigerian leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leadership of the National Assembly, and security agencies to act swiftly. "You are there to protect the citizens of Nigeria. We are crying and asking for help," he urged.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in Abuja, with families calling for immediate rescue operations and enhanced measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
