Kwara Businessman's Family Escapes Kidnappers After Gunmen Storm Community
The abducted wife and son of a prominent Kwara businessman, Alhaji Abass, popularly known as Daniyan Saba, have successfully escaped from their captors in a dramatic turn of events. This development comes just weeks after the businessman himself endured a harrowing kidnapping ordeal that lasted over a month.
Details of the Abduction and Escape
According to reports, the victims were kidnapped from Ndeji community in the Lafiagi Emirate, located within Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. The gunmen stormed the community in the early hours of Saturday, causing widespread panic among residents before whisking the wife and son away to an unknown destination.
It was later gathered that the victims were found in the Oreke community on Tuesday. A vigilante commander in Gbugbu, Gina Muhammad, confirmed the development to Daily Trust on Wednesday, March 11. Muhammad stated, "We learnt it was while the kidnappers were trying to take them across the Kogi highway that they escaped. However, we don’t know if a ransom was paid this time around for his wife and child."
Background of the Businessman's Previous Kidnapping
This incident follows the recent kidnapping of Alhaji Abass himself, who spent more than a month in a bandits' den before his release. Abbas previously revealed to the publication that he and his manager, Mallam Abubakar Issa, were only released after a ransom of N105 million was paid to their captors.
The repeated targeting of the businessman and his family highlights ongoing security challenges in the region, particularly in communities within Kwara State.
