Swift Police Action Leads to Rescue of Seven Abducted Farmers
Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have successfully rescued seven individuals who were kidnapped while working on their farms in the Ikeken Forest, located in Ewohimi, Esan South-East Local Government Area.
The police received a report on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from one Enoch Omozokpia, who stated that his 65-year-old father, William Omozokpia, and six others had been taken by armed men suspected to be kidnappers.
Coordinated Rescue Effort in the Forest
Acting promptly on the information, the Divisional Police Officer in Ewohimi led a joint rescue team. This team included police operatives, personnel from the Nigerian Army, and members of local vigilante groups.
In a well-coordinated operation, the team stormed the vast Ikeken Forest. They engaged in an intense bush combing mission, which created immense pressure on the abductors. This forceful action compelled the kidnappers to abandon their captives and flee the scene.
Victims Reunited with Families, Manhunt Continues
All seven victims were rescued unhurt and have since been reunited with their relieved families. The rescued individuals have been identified as: Mr. William Akhabue, Mr. Innocent Ebarekor, Mrs. Rachel Ebarekor, Miss Efuah Ebarekor, Master Winner Ebarekor, William Omozokpia, and Mr. Lucky Igiese (popularly known as Bulala).
The Commissioner of Police for Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, commended the gallantry and professionalism displayed by all security personnel and vigilantes involved in the operation. He reaffirmed the Command's unwavering commitment to the safety of all residents and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
