The Nigerian Army has announced a significant victory in its ongoing fight against terrorism and criminal activities, reporting the neutralisation of seven terrorists and the arrest of twenty-seven suspects within a decisive 48-hour operation spanning multiple regions of the country.
Coordinated Nationwide Strikes
According to a statement released on the Army's official X handle on Saturday, November 9, 2025, this intensified push is a direct result of new directives from the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu. The COAS had recently conducted a tour of the North-East theatre to bolster troop morale and reinforce frontline operations. The military described these actions as part of a renewed nationwide offensive designed to bring the fight directly to the enemy's doorstep.
The coordinated strikes were executed across the North East, North West, and North Central regions, targeting terrorist elements. Simultaneously, in the South-South, troops focused on dismantling networks of economic sabotage, including illegal oil refining and black sand mining in Akwa Ibom, Abia, Imo, and Delta States.
Breakdown of Operations by Region
North-East Theatre
In Borno State, troops of Sector 3, Operation HADIN KAI, conducted a successful cordon-and-search mission in Anguwan Church, Monguno. This operation led to the arrest of twelve suspects with alleged links to terrorist logistics and intelligence networks.
In a separate engagement, soldiers from the 192 Battalion set up an ambush along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, resulting in a firefight that neutralised three ISWAP/JAS fighters. The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle along with ammunition from the scene.
Furthermore, 25 Brigade troops stationed in Damboa eliminated a terrorist who was attempting to infiltrate their base under the false pretence of being a civilian informant.
North-West & North-Central Operations
In Kaduna State, forces operating under Operation ENDURING PEACE raided a terrorist hideout located in Kauru Local Government Area. The operation led to the death of two insurgents who were identified as being responsible for recent attacks on rural communities.
Over in Plateau State, soldiers apprehended four suspects connected to the killing of two civilians in Riyom LGA. Meanwhile, in Niger State, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA eliminated a terrorist scout and recovered a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and other items used for reconnaissance missions.
Crackdown on Economic Sabotage in the South-South
The Army also reported intensified efforts against economic saboteurs in the oil-rich Niger Delta region. Troops of 2 Brigade in Akwa Ibom arrested three illegal miners engaged in black sand trading.
144 Battalion in Abia State discovered an illegal refining site containing over 1,000 litres of stolen crude oil. In Imo State, the 34 Artillery Brigade uncovered another refining hub in Ohaji/Egbema, seizing six drums of crude oil and a canoe used for transportation.
In Delta State, soldiers from the 90 Amphibious Battalion arrested three suspects at a snap checkpoint in Sapele. One of the individuals was found dressed in a fake military uniform. Items recovered included counterfeit military ranks, phones, and charms.
Conclusion and Call for Support
The Nigerian Army stated that these successful operations reaffirm its revitalized combat posture and unwavering determination under the leadership of Lieutenant General Shaibu. The military high command has urged citizens to continue providing credible intelligence to help sustain the momentum gained in these nationwide offensives against terrorism and criminality.
