In a significant counter-terrorism operation, Nigerian Army troops have successfully repelled an attack using armed drones launched by terrorists in Borno State. The incident underscores the evolving threats faced by security forces and their continued resilience.

Drone Assault Thwarted at Forward Operating Base

The attack targeted the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Molai, located in Delwa village within Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. According to a military source at Army Headquarters, the event occurred on December 16. The terrorists deployed four armed drones equipped with explosives in an attempt to strike the army position.

Troops operating under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) were vigilant and responded effectively, neutralizing all the incoming threats. The source confirmed that an exploitation process is currently ongoing to trace the launch point of these drones with the aim of apprehending or neutralizing the perpetrators.

Sustained Offensives and Related Operations

In a related development, the source stated that troops across Sectors 2, 3, and 4 of OPHK are maintaining aggressive operations under the Desert Sanity IV campaign. This indicates a sustained push against terrorist elements in the region.

Separately, on the same day, troops conducting Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) raided criminal hideouts and an illegal mining site. The operations took place at Rafin Bauna and Gero mountains in Plateau State. During these raids, three suspects were arrested.

Items recovered from the suspects include:

  • A fabricated rifle
  • One round of 7.62mm special ammunition
  • A generator
  • Three shovels
  • Water pipes

The suspects and the recovered items are currently in custody for further investigation and necessary action.

Successful Rescue in Benue
