A prominent civil society organisation has voiced strong optimism regarding Nigeria's newly appointed Minister of Defence, stating he will adopt a firm and uncompromising approach in the nation's battle against terrorism and banditry.
ILDC Endorses Musa's Appointment
The Initiative for Leadership Development and Change (ILDC) publicly backed the appointment of General Christopher Musa (retd) during a media briefing held in Abuja on Thursday, 4 December 2025. The group's National President, Chief Ugochukwu Nnam, described the retired General as a detribalised Nigerian whose extensive experience and personal integrity equip him perfectly for the country's pressing security challenges.
Nnam expressed unwavering confidence in Musa's capacity to degrade and ultimately defeat the complex terrorist networks operating within Nigeria. He called on all citizens to rally behind the new Defence Minister, emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
A Profile in Courage and Professionalism
Chief Nnam highlighted General Musa's distinguished military career, which included serving as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). He praised the minister's character, stating he is known for his professionalism and strict adherence to rules of engagement.
"Retired General Christopher Musa is a man of proven character, integrity, and professionalism. He is not a tribal bigot nor a sympathiser of terrorists. He operates strictly in accordance with the rules of engagement, without fear or favour," Nnam asserted during the briefing.
The ILDC leader also commended President Bola Tinubu for the strategic appointment, noting it comes at a critical time as Nigeria contends with multiple threats from Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), bandits, and other insurgent groups.
