Nigerian Army Releases 2025 Short Service List

The Nigerian Army has officially announced the release of the 2025 Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026 Selection Board shortlist, marking a significant milestone in this year's military recruitment process.

Important Reporting Instructions for Shortlisted Candidates

All successful applicants have been directed to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Ribadu Campus (Old Site) in Kaduna State on December 1, 2025 for the comprehensive screening exercise. The Army has specifically emphasized that candidates must arrive in Kaduna by November 30, 2025, and present themselves at the Selection Board venue between 6:00 AM and 11:00 AM on the reporting day.

The military authority issued a stern warning that any candidate arriving after the stipulated time will face automatic disqualification from the recruitment process, underscoring the importance of punctuality in military operations.

Essential Documents and Personal Items Required

Shortlisted candidates must come prepared with both original copies and at least two photocopies of their crucial credentials. The required documents include academic certificates, valid birth certificate, certificate of state of origin, BVN printout, NYSC discharge or exemption certificate, and completed online application forms.

In addition to documentation, candidates must bring essential personal items for the duration of the exercise, including:

  • Writing materials for administrative purposes
  • Three pairs of blue shorts and three white T-shirts
  • White canvas shoes and white socks
  • Toiletries and a bucket
  • Plates and drinking cups
  • Bedding materials
  • Four full-size colored photographs in suit and four passport photos
  • WAEC/NECO scratch cards for verification

Mandatory Parental Consent and Screening Process

Every candidate must present a signed Letter of Consent from a parent or guardian, which must be formally made at a recognized court of law and endorsed by a Commissioner of Oaths. This consent letter must explicitly state that no compensation will be demanded for any injuries or death that might occur during the selection exercise.

The screening process will involve multiple stages including document verification, physical fitness tests, medical examinations, academic tests, and oral interviews. The Army has emphasized that a high standard of discipline is expected from all participants, and any violation of instructions during the Selection Board will result in immediate disqualification.

Step-by-Step Guide to Check Shortlist Status

Applicants can verify their selection status through the following straightforward process:

  1. Visit the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal: https://recruitment.army.mil.ng
  2. Click on the 'Shortlisted Candidates' section
  3. Select 'Short Service Combatant Commission Course 49/2026'
  4. Search for your name according to your state of origin
  5. Print the notification if successfully shortlisted

The Army has cautioned all candidates against making any alterations to their documents, as such actions will render the documents invalid. The military also clarified that due to the nature of the exercise, the Nigerian Army shall not be liable for any injuries or deaths recorded during the Selection Board process.

While candidates will be accommodated and fed throughout the program, they must make their own travel arrangements to Kaduna. The Army has strictly prohibited personal vehicles and will not allow visitors during the entire exercise period.
