NSCDC Commandant General Rolls Out Sophisticated Equipment to State Commands
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Audi Abubakar, has officially launched the nationwide distribution of advanced surveillance and operational gadgets to all state commands. This strategic move aims to bolster the corps' capabilities in combating vandals, illegal miners, and other security threats across Nigeria.
Mandate for Professionalism and Discipline
Speaking at the annual strategic meeting held at the National Headquarters in Abuja on March 27, 2026, Abubakar addressed state commanders and senior officers. He emphasized that the renewal of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu serves as a clear mandate to deepen professionalism, discipline, and operational efficiency within the NSCDC. Abubakar declared that the corps is entering a critical new phase where strict adherence to ethical standards is non-negotiable.
"We are in a critical phase where discipline and professionalism must define our operations. Any officer found wanting will face the full weight of sanctions," he stated firmly. He highlighted that loyalty, resilience, and dedication to duty would be rewarded, while misconduct would not be tolerated under his leadership.
Operational Gains and Welfare Improvements
Abubakar reported significant progress in personnel welfare, including the resolution of salary arrears and promotion backlogs, which he noted has boosted morale and productivity among officers. On the operational front, he disclosed impressive achievements:
- Dismantling over 400 illegal refineries
- Securing arrests and prosecutions of suspects involved in oil theft, smuggling, and illegal mining activities

Deployment of High-Tech Equipment
As part of a broader strategy to integrate technology into security operations, Abubakar unveiled a comprehensive suite of modern equipment designed to enhance surveillance, response time, and officer safety. Each state command has been equipped with:
