Plateau Troops Neutralize 3 Terrorists, Arrest 2 Fake Security Operatives for Arson
In a significant security operation aimed at restoring peace in Plateau State, troops of Sector 2 Operation Enduring Peace have achieved a major breakthrough by neutralizing three suspected terrorists and arresting two individuals masquerading as security operatives for arson.
Ambush Operation in Karem Village
According to a statement released by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, the operation began on April 2, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m. in Karem village, located within Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The military action was initiated following credible intelligence reports indicating the movement of armed men traveling on three motorcycles toward the community. High-alert troops successfully disrupted this large-scale movement of terrorists, engaging them in combat.
During the intense engagement, three of the terrorists were successfully neutralized as the insurgents fled under the pressure of sustained military combat. This operation represents a significant blow to terrorist activities in the region.
Arrest of Fake Security Operatives in Dutse Uku
The momentum of this success extended into Dutse Uku in Jos North Local Government Area, where vigilant troops responding to a distress call about sporadic shooting intercepted and apprehended two individuals masquerading as security operatives at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.
These impostors, dressed in tactical black uniforms, were caught actively participating in the arson of residential properties and orchestrating violence within the community. The two suspects are currently in military custody, while two persons who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident were moved to a medical facility for attention and are reported to be in stable condition.
Strategic Military Deployment
This surge in operational efficiency follows the strategic deployment of a battalion plus specialized counter-terrorism troops, an initiative ordered by the Chief of Army Staff on Thursday morning. The immediate impact of these additional boots on the ground has acted as a decisive game-changer, bolstering the State's security architecture and restoring proactive control over volatile zones.
Captain Oteh emphasized that this pivotal arrest serves as a direct rebuttal to recent allegations suggesting military complicity in the Jos North unrest, effectively proving that the atrocities previously attributed to official personnel are being committed by criminal elements using deceptive attire to sow discord and defame the Armed Forces.
Military Resolve and Public Cooperation
In light of these developments, the military has issued a stern warning that all hoodlums, insurgents, and criminal syndicates currently operating within Plateau State will be ruthlessly dealt with, as the military remains resolute in its mission to eliminate all threats to public peace.
The general public is kindly requested to maintain a high level of situational awareness and support the ongoing efforts by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest authorities. Through continued cooperation and the current strategic offensive, the military remains committed to ensuring the permanent restoration of safety and order for all citizens in Plateau State.
