Endorsement and Transition of Power

The Nigeria Police Council had previously endorsed Disu on Monday, March 2, 2026, after his appointment by President Tinubu. Disu now takes over from his predecessor, Kayode Egbetokun, who served as the Inspector-General of Police prior to this transition. This appointment is part of a broader strategy to enhance police effectiveness and security across the nation.

The swearing-in ceremony highlights the Tinubu administration's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's security apparatus and ensuring stable leadership within the police force. As the 23rd IGP, Disu is expected to address ongoing security challenges and implement reforms to improve law enforcement operations.
