Troops Rescue 4 Abducted Civilians, Arrest Suspected Collaborators

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have achieved several operational breakthroughs across Borno State and surrounding areas. These include the rescue of kidnapped civilians, arrests of suspected terrorist collaborators, and recovery of weapons during ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

Rescue Operation along Ngoshe–Amuda Axis

In one of the latest operations along the Ngoshe–Amuda axis in Gwoza Local Government Area, soldiers rescued four abducted civilians — two women and two children. The victims were reportedly taken during an earlier attack on the Ngoshe community in March 2026. Following medical evaluation and debriefing, they have since been reunited with their families.

Military authorities stated that the rescue is part of sustained pressure on terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains, which has also led to the liberation of dozens of captives in recent weeks.

Arrests in Kukawa and Dalori

In a separate operation in Kukawa Local Government Area, troops arrested a 50-year-old woman suspected of acting as a logistics courier for insurgents. She was allegedly transporting items destined for terrorist networks in the Dumba axis. Another suspect was apprehended along the Dalori corridor while transporting supplies linked to insurgent activities.

Interception of Cattle Rustlers in Kwaya Kusar

Further arrests were made in Kwaya Kusar, where troops working with local security support groups intercepted four suspected cattle rustlers and alleged collaborators in possession of stolen livestock.

Surrenders and Recoveries

The military also confirmed the surrender of more individuals with alleged links to insurgent groups, including family members who fled from terrorist hideouts due to sustained military pressure and worsening conditions within the camps. Recovered items from various operations include an AK-47 rifle, a loaded magazine, suspected illicit substances, cash, and other logistics materials used in sustaining insurgent activities.

Broader Efforts and Achievements

According to military authorities, a total of 65 abducted persons have been rescued under ongoing operations. Efforts continue to track remaining victims and dismantle terrorist networks across the theatre. The military high command described these sustained operations as part of a broader effort to restore stability, disrupt insurgent supply chains, and strengthen security across the North-East region. They commended troops for their continued operational successes.
