Borno Police Deploy EOD, Tactical Squads for President Tinubu's Visit
Heavy Security Deployment for Tinubu's Borno Visit

The Borno State Police Command has initiated a major security operation in preparation for the scheduled visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Robust Security Architecture Activated

In a statement released on the day of the visit, the Police Public Relations Officer for Borno State, ASP Nahum Daso, outlined the comprehensive measures put in place. The state Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has ordered the deployment of a robust security architecture to guarantee a safe and seamless event.

The security plan integrates multiple specialized units to cover all potential threats. This includes:

  • Conventional police personnel for general patrols and visibility.
  • Tactical teams to respond to any immediate security challenges.
  • Surveillance squads for intelligence gathering and monitoring.
  • Crowd control units to manage public gatherings.
  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit operatives to detect and neutralize any explosive threats.

Traffic Advisory for Maiduguri Residents

ASP Daso directly addressed the public, informing them to anticipate some temporary disruptions to normal movement. To facilitate the smooth passage of the President's convoy and ensure overall public safety, certain roads will experience intermittent restrictions or diversions.

The key area affected is the parallel route from Airport Road to Shehu Road in the state capital, Maiduguri. The police spokesperson advised motorists and residents to plan their journeys accordingly and seek alternative routes during these periods.

Police Reassure Public of Safety Commitment

Concluding the statement, the police command sought to reassure the citizens of Borno State. They emphasized their unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property throughout the presidential engagement.

"The Command reassures residents of its commitment to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the presidential visit," stated Daso. The police also appealed for continued public cooperation, vigilance, and support from the community to make the security operation a success.
