The significant disbursement was made under the Group Life Assurance and the IGP Family Welfare Schemes, covering multiple policy periods from 2018 through 2026.
Ceremony at Force Headquarters in Abuja
The presentation ceremony took place at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where IGP Disu personally handed over the cheques to the bereaved families. He emphasized that the welfare of police personnel remains a top priority under his leadership and will be institutionalized as a core policy of the Nigeria Police Force.
Addressing the widows, children, parents, and other relatives of the deceased officers, Disu expressed his deepest condolences. "The loss of a loved one is never easy, and no gesture can fully replace the presence of those you have lost," he stated solemnly.
Honoring Sacrifice and Service
IGP Disu highlighted the dual roles of the fallen officers, noting that they were not only dedicated members of the police force but also essential family members and community pillars. "Each day they wore the uniform, they did so with a profound sense of duty, placing the safety and security of others above their own," he remarked.
He further affirmed that their service and ultimate sacrifice will be permanently recorded in the annals of the police force and the collective memory of the Nigerian nation.
Commitment to Supporting Bereaved Families
The IGP explained that the cheque presentation symbolizes the police force's ongoing commitment to supporting the families left behind. "It is a reaffirmation that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to ensuring that the sacrifices of our personnel are recognised and that their loved ones are not forgotten," Disu declared.
The disbursed funds cover the following policy years:
- 2018/2019
- 2020/2021
- 2021/2022
- 2022/2023
- 2024/2025
