The Imo State Police Command has rolled out extensive security arrangements to guarantee a safe and peaceful Christmas celebration for residents and visitors across the state.
Maximum Alert for All Police Formations
In a decisive move, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has placed all police formations on high alert. This directive, issued on December 23, 2025, mandates all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Team Commanders to activate their security mechanisms fully.
The goal is to proactively prevent any form of security breach within their respective jurisdictions during the festive period and beyond. The command's spokesperson, Henry Okoye, confirmed the development in an official statement.
Round-the-Clock Patrols and Traffic Management
To enforce these watertight security measures, specialised police units have been mobilised for 24/7 operations. The deployment includes:
- Specialised tactical teams
- Conventional patrol teams
- Rapid response squads
Furthermore, in a bid to ensure smooth vehicular movement, Police traffic wardens have been strategically positioned across the state. They will work in synergy with officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to manage traffic and prevent congestion on major roads and festive hotspots.
Call for Public Vigilance and Cooperation
While extending Christmas felicitations to all Imolites, CP Danjuma emphasised the need for collective responsibility. He urged the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and security-conscious throughout the celebrations.
The Commissioner advised residents to promptly report any suspicious activities or security emergencies using the police emergency contact numbers. This collaborative approach between the security agencies and the community is seen as vital for the success of the security plan covering all 27 local government areas of Imo State.
