The Katsina State Police Command has officially announced the assumption of duty of a new Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, who has been designated as the 27th police chief to lead the command in the state. According to a statement released by the command and signed by DSP Abubakar Aliyu, Commissioner Ali Umar Fage resumed his duties on Monday, following his deployment by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Rilwanu Disu. Ali Umar Fage is a native of Fagge Local Government Area in Kano State. He began his career in the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, when he was enlisted as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. Academically, Fage holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Bayero University, Kano, which has provided a foundation for his understanding of governance and public administration.

With over three decades of dedicated service, Fage has accumulated a wealth of experience across multiple states in Nigeria. His career has spanned various operational, investigative, and administrative roles in Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, and Lagos States. This diverse exposure has equipped him with a comprehensive perspective on policing dynamics in different regions.

Throughout his tenure, Fage has held several key positions, including serving as a Divisional Police Officer in numerous divisions, where he oversaw local law enforcement operations. He has also been appointed as an Officer Commanding strategic units, demonstrating his capability in managing critical police functions. Additionally, he has taken on senior administrative roles, such as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, highlighting his expertise in resource management and organizational leadership.

Prior to his current deployment, Fage served as the Deputy Commandant at the Police College in Ikeja, Lagos, where he contributed to the training and development of future police officers. His commitment to professional growth is further evidenced by his attendance at several advanced courses, including the Advanced Detective Course and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the Police Staff College in Jos.
