Lagos Police Commissioner Declares War on Criminal Elements
The newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has issued a stern warning to criminal elements operating within the state, declaring unequivocally that they will find no safe haven under his leadership. This declaration came during his inaugural address following a brief handover ceremony with his predecessor, AIG Olorundare Moshood, where he outlined his comprehensive policy thrust anchored firmly on continuity, professionalism, and unwavering integrity.

CP Fatai emphasized that his leadership represents a continuation of the significant strides achieved under the previous administration, rather than a complete overhaul. "I was part and parcel of the previous administration for about three-quarters of its tenure. So, whatever successes were recorded, I believe I contributed to them. This is not entirely new to me, but a continuation with a futuristic approach," he stated confidently. He stressed that the Command will sustain and build upon the existing security architecture and operational strategies already established, recognizing Lagos's unique position as Nigeria's economic hub and a leading mega city in sub-Saharan Africa transitioning into a smart city.

The Lagos State Police Command remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property, adopting a multifaceted approach that includes:

He also emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation, noting that the Police will continue to work closely with the military and other security agencies to enhance intelligence sharing and coordinated operations, ensuring a unified front against criminal activities.

Addressing officers and men of the Command, CP Fatai stressed that discipline, professionalism, and integrity would be non-negotiable under his leadership. He announced a zero-tolerance policy for police brutality and unprofessional conduct, ensuring that all operations are guided by the rule of law and strict respect for fundamental human rights. "Any personnel found wanting will be dealt with in accordance with extant laws," he warned, while also assuring that personnel welfare and training would receive due attention to maintain high standards.
