LSSTF Boss Ayo Ogunsan Launches Team to Track Security Assets in Lagos
LSSTF Launches Team to Monitor Security Assets in Lagos

In a significant move to ensure accountability, the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr Ayo Ogunsan, has inaugurated a dedicated monitoring team. This team is tasked with tracking vehicles and other critical security assets provided to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

Mandate for Transparency and Accountability

The newly formed LSSTF Monitoring Team has received a clear and comprehensive mandate from Dr Ogunsan. Their primary responsibility is to conduct routine field inspections to assess the condition of all assets funded by the LSSTF. They must maintain precise and up-to-date records of every piece of equipment deployed to the RRS.

Furthermore, the team is required to provide regular operational reports. A crucial part of their duty is to evaluate how effectively the security agencies are utilizing the provided assets. This assessment will serve as a key factor in determining future allocations from the Fund.

Ensuring Responsible Use of Public Goodwill

Dr Ogunsan emphasized that this initiative is designed to make sure all security agencies in Lagos that benefit from the LSSTF are both responsible and responsive to the public. The constitution of this team fulfills a pledge he made during a Strategic Media Parley with Senior Editors and Media Executives on December 5, 2025.

At that event, held at the Agency’s Headquarters, Ogunsan declared that the era of misusing public resources was over. He outlined his leadership focus, stating, “Public confidence in the Fund is essential. Under my leadership, transparency will be the standard not the exception.”

A New Standard of Oversight

The LSSTF boss detailed the pillars of his administration's approach. These include maintaining strict oversight on contractor performance, closely monitoring all funded projects, and publishing regular updates on how donations are utilized. He also committed to strengthening internal governance and deepening communication channels with stakeholders.

To facilitate the team's work, an inauguration ceremony and the public presentation of a dedicated monitoring vehicle will be held very soon. This step physically equips the team to carry out its mandate of tracking assets across Lagos State effectively.

The establishment of this monitoring team marks a proactive step by the LSSTF under Dr Ayo Ogunsan's leadership. It aims to bridge the gap between public investment in security and tangible, accountable results, ensuring that every resource contributes directly to the safety of Lagos residents.
