The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the next steps for applicants seeking to join the force as Police Constables under the General Duty and Specialist cadres.
Examination Dates and Locations
The written examination for shortlisted candidates is scheduled to take place from 28 to 30 April 2026 at designated centres across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Eligibility and Invitation Cards
Only applicants who successfully passed the earlier physical and credential screening exercise are eligible to sit for the examination. Candidates must access the recruitment portal from 24 April 2026 to print their Examination Invitation Card, which contains details such as venue, date, and time. The portal can be accessed at http://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.
Required Documents and Dress Code
The commission stated that candidates must bring the following items to the examination centres:
- A pen
- National Identification Number (NIN) slip issued by NIMC with a clear photograph
- Printed examination invitation card
Candidates are also required to adhere strictly to the prescribed dress code: white shorts, white T-shirt, and white canvas shoes.
Warning Against Fraud
The Police Service Commission reiterated that the entire recruitment process is free of charge. It warned applicants against fraudsters and job racketeering schemes, stating that anyone found engaging in extortion or impersonation would face prosecution. “The recruitment process is entirely free of charge,” the PSC emphasized.
Commitment to Transparency
Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, noted that the exercise is part of efforts to ensure a transparent and merit-based recruitment process. He reaffirmed the commitment of the PSC and NPF to uphold fairness and integrity throughout the selection exercise.
