Massive Ammunition Recovery on Kaduna Highway

The Kaduna State Police Command has made a significant security breakthrough with the recovery of 210 rounds of 7.56mm ammunition abandoned by fleeing suspects along the busy Zaria-Funtua highway. The discovery occurred on Tuesday, November 26, following swift action by police operatives responding to community intelligence.

How the Discovery Unfolded

According to Police Spokesperson Mansir Hassan, the operation began when residents reported suspicious activity at the Dogo Itace axis of Zaria. Witnesses observed passengers in a black Volkswagen Golf vehicle throwing a sack from their moving car, immediately raising alarm.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Samaru quickly mobilized a patrol team to the location after receiving the distress call. Upon arrival, officers discovered the discarded sack containing the substantial cache of live ammunition.

Police Commissioner Rabiu Muhammad confirmed that immediate efforts were made to intercept the suspects. Alert messages were sent to all police divisions along the Zaria-Funtua route, but the vehicle managed to evade capture.

Intensified Security Measures Yield Results

Authorities believe the suspects abandoned their deadly cargo due to recently intensified police patrols and snap checkpoints implemented across Kaduna State. The police command's proactive security measures appear to be disrupting criminal operations, forcing offenders to abandon their plans.

Commissioner Muhammad has launched a full-scale manhunt for the fleeing suspects while commending the vigilant residents whose timely reporting led to the ammunition recovery. The police chief emphasized that community cooperation remains crucial in the fight against crime.

Police Warning and Public Reassurance

In a strong message to criminal elements, Commissioner Muhammad warned that Kaduna State will not tolerate illegal activities. He reiterated the command's commitment to proactive policing strategies designed to maintain public safety.

"We have commenced a thorough manhunt for the suspects who abandoned these dangerous items," Muhammad stated. "Let this serve as a warning to all criminal elements - stay away from Kaduna State or face the full weight of the law."

The successful ammunition recovery operation demonstrates the effectiveness of collaborative security efforts between law enforcement and communities in combating crime across Nigeria's security-challenged regions.
