Police in Delta and Ogun Issue Stern Warnings to Criminals Ahead of Eid-el-Fitr
In a robust effort to prevent security breaches during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Delta State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive deployment of personnel across the state. This move highlights both increased vigilance and ongoing concerns about potential threats to public safety. Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola has ordered the strategic placement of conventional police officers, tactical units, and other security assets at prayer grounds and identified flashpoints.
Heightened Security Measures in Delta
According to a statement released by the command's spokesman, Bright Edafe, this deployment aims to safeguard lives and property while ensuring smooth traffic flow throughout the festive period. While the police assurance may provide some comfort to residents, the scale of the operation underscores persistent security challenges in Delta State, including cult-related violence and criminal activities that continue to fuel public anxiety.
Adesola issued a direct caution to criminal elements, particularly cultists and "mischief-makers," urging them to avoid unlawful activities. He emphasized the command's preparedness to respond decisively to any disruptions of public peace. Furthermore, he has directed Divisional Police Officers, Area Commanders, and Tactical Units to intensify intelligence-driven raids on known criminal hideouts and black spots throughout the state.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations has been tasked with overseeing coordination and ensuring the effectiveness of the security architecture before, during, and after the celebrations. The command also called on residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding, encouraging prompt reporting of suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
Proactive Security in Ogun State
Similarly, the police in Ogun State have intensified security measures across worship centers and strategic locations in all 20 local councils to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration. Additional focus areas include prayer grounds, critical infrastructure, markets, major public spaces, and highways during and after the festivities.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi stated in Abeokuta that the safety of residents "is paramount" to the command. As a result, personnel have been deployed to prayer grounds and other strategic locations to enhance security during the festive period. "In line with this proactive approach, the command has deployed personnel and operational assets in advance to strategic locations across the state. Special attention has been given to Eid prayer grounds and other places of worship, as well as markets, highways, and major public spaces," he noted.
Babaseyi added that these early deployments are reinforced with coordinated patrols, intelligence-led operations, and surveillance to deter criminal activities and ensure prompt responses to any threats.

Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan and extended best wishes for a peaceful and orderly Eid-el-Fitr celebration. He reassured residents of the command's firm commitment to maintaining law and order and safeguarding lives and property across Ogun State.
Ogunlowo urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or security concerns through the command's emergency lines. He assured the public of an unwavering resolve to ensure a safe and secure environment for all during the festive period, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in achieving this goal.
