Ahead of the 2025 Christmas celebrations, security agencies in Kaduna State have significantly increased their presence and patrol activities along the vital Kaduna-Abuja Highway and other major roads within the metropolis. This decisive action is a direct implementation of directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aimed at ensuring a secure and hitch-free festive season for all travelers and residents.
Joint Security Patrols and Highway Monitoring
According to a statement released by the Kaduna State Police Command's spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, proactive security measures have been activated across the state. Following the IGP's order, the Commissioner of Police for Kaduna State, CP Rabiu Muhammad, personally led a joint anti-crime patrol operation. He was accompanied by all Tactical Commanders under the Command to monitor the Kaduna-Abuja Highway on a 24-hour basis.
The operation was not conducted in isolation. DSP Hassan explained that it was carried out in collaboration with the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command. This inter-command cooperation is designed to strengthen security along this major transit corridor to Nigeria's northern region and ensure seamless protection for commuters.
Deterring Crime and Reassuring the Public
The scope of the security surge extends beyond the highway itself. Patrols and surveillance have been intensified in all border areas between Kaduna State and the FCT. The primary objectives of this operation are threefold:
- To deter potential criminal activities.
- To boost visibility policing and provide a constant sense of security.
- To reassure the public that adequate security arrangements are in place before, during, and after the festive season.
CP Rabiu Muhammad emphasized the command's unwavering commitment to safeguarding commuters, residents, and travelers. He assured the public that these enhanced patrols and surveillance efforts will be sustained throughout the yuletide period and beyond to prevent any form of criminal activity.
The Commissioner also took a moment to applaud the military and other security agencies for their immense contribution and collaborative role in policing the highway. Furthermore, he issued a stern warning to individuals using social media to spread false and negative publicity about the security situation on the road, advising them to desist or face the full wrath of the law. He solicited continued cooperation from the public to achieve total success in the security drive.
