Police Deploy Tactical Squads for Tinubu's Borno Visit on Dec 20
Special Police Units Deployed for Tinubu's Borno Visit

The Borno State Police Command has activated a major security operation in preparation for the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the state on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Robust Security Architecture Activated

In an official statement released on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed that comprehensive security measures are now in place. The state Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, has personally overseen the design of what is described as a robust security architecture for the presidential visit.

This security plan integrates multiple specialized units to guarantee safety. Conventional police personnel will be supported by tactical teams, surveillance squads, crowd control experts, and operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit. The primary objective is to ensure the visit proceeds without any security breaches.

Traffic Adjustments in Maiduguri

The Command has announced that temporary traffic restrictions will be enforced in specific areas of Maiduguri, the state capital. These measures are intended to facilitate the smooth passage of the President's convoy and other Very Important Persons (VIPs).

Key roads, including the parallel route from Airport Road to Shehu Road, may experience intermittent closures or diversions. The police have urged motorists and the general public to anticipate these changes and cooperate with officers on the ground.

Appeal for Public Cooperation

ASP Daso, in the statement, reassured residents of the Command's unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property throughout the event. The police emphasized that this commitment extends to the periods before, during, and after President Tinubu's stay in Borno.

The statement concluded with a call for continued public cooperation, vigilance, and support from the citizens of Borno State. This visit is part of President Tinubu's three-state tour, which will culminate with his end-of-year holidays in Lagos.
