Troops Arrest Suspect, Recover Arms in Kaduna Attack

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have apprehended a suspected assailant and seized multiple firearms following an attack on forest guards and hunters in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Details of the Operation

The operation took place on April 23 at approximately 9:35 a.m., conducted by personnel from Sector 7 of Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP). They responded to reports indicating that attackers were retreating toward Jaginde Forest after the incident at Gidan Waya.

Upon arrival, the troops pursued the fleeing suspects in the direction of Ungwan Maruwa. During the pursuit, one suspect abandoned his motorcycle and fled on foot upon spotting the advancing soldiers.

Recovered Items

A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-49 rifle, and a motorcycle, along with other items. These weapons are believed to have been used in the attack on the forest guards and hunters.

Arrest of Suspect

In a follow-up operation conducted in Gidan Waya, troops arrested a suspect identified as Ahmed Musa. He is suspected of being connected to the attack on the forest guards and hunters. The suspect is currently in custody and is undergoing further investigation.

Security authorities have reiterated their commitment to continuing operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and improving safety in Kaduna State. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the fleeing syndicate.
