Delta Yuletide Security: NSCDC Deploys 1,293 Officers for Festive Patrols
NSCDC Deploys 1,293 Personnel for Delta Yuletide Security

In a major move to safeguard lives and property, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Delta State has mobilized a massive security force for the Christmas and New Year period. The command has deployed a total of 1,293 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and secure festive season for all residents.

Strategic Deployment Across Delta State

The order for this extensive security operation was given by the State Commandant, Chinedu Igbo. The deployment, announced on 24 December 2025, pulls officers from various elite units within the Corps. This includes personnel from the Armed Squad, the Counter-Terrorism Unit, the Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Disaster Management Unit, among other tactical formations.

According to a statement released by the command's spokesperson, Anthony Uchenna, the objective is to establish "watertight security" throughout the Yuletide. To achieve this, Rapid Response and Patrol Teams have been strategically positioned across the state's three senatorial districts. Notably, the command's recently reorganized Female Squad will also be conducting routine patrols in major towns and urban centers.

Protecting Vital Infrastructure

A key pillar of the operation is the robust protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI). Given Delta State's strategic importance in the nation's oil and gas sector, Commandant Igbo has mandated 24-hour surveillance of all such installations. Furthermore, continuous patrols have been ordered for the First and Second Niger Bridges, recognizing their vital economic and social significance.

The disruption of these key facilities would have severe repercussions, a risk the NSCDC is determined to mitigate. This focus underscores the corps' expanded mandate beyond traditional civil defence roles.

A Collaborative Security Effort

While urging citizens to celebrate without fear, the NSCDC acknowledges the persistent security challenges that often intensify during festive periods. These include threats of armed robbery, vandalism, and targeted attacks on infrastructure.

Commandant Igbo reaffirmed the Corps' commitment to a collaborative approach, working hand-in-hand with sister security agencies to clamp down on criminal elements. He issued a stern warning, pledging that any miscreants seeking to disrupt the peace would be "apprehended and brought to book." This large-scale deployment serves as both a protective measure and a strong deterrent, aiming to ensure a joyful and incident-free celebration for all in Delta State.
