Oyo Fire Service Recovers Body, Rescues Nine in Separate Ibadan Incidents

In a busy weekend, officials recovered one body from a fatal road accident while rescuing nine individuals from a separate fire outbreak in the state capital.
Fatal Accident on Total Garden Axis
On Saturday, a serious road accident occurred in front of the Omo Ajorosun Club House along the Total Garden axis of Ibadan, a heavily trafficked area. According to eyewitness accounts, an ASHOK Leyland truck with registration number FFF340XB from Ogun State reportedly ran over a motorcycle, completely crushing it in the process.
Fire service personnel who responded to the distress call recovered the body of a male victim from the scene. The remains were subsequently handed over to officers from the Yemetu Division of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and necessary procedures.
Residential Fire Rescue at Idi Oro Road
In a related development, firefighters successfully rescued nine persons from a fire outbreak at a private residential building located at No. 18, Idi Oro Road (A), in the Sode area along Ajibode in Ibadan. The incident affected a four-bedroom flat, causing significant panic among residents before emergency responders arrived on the scene.
Sources indicated that the victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and distress during the fire. Emergency officials promptly attended to them and rushed all nine individuals to Oyo Mesi Specialist Hospital for proper medical treatment and evaluation.
Additional Fire Incident in Iseyin
Meanwhile, another fire incident was reported in Iseyin, located in the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone of Oyo State. This blaze gutted three shops, destroying goods and properties estimated to be worth millions of naira. At the time of reporting, the exact cause of this fire had not yet been ascertained by investigators.

Hon. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed all three incidents, stating that the agency received distress calls and immediately deployed personnel to the affected locations. "Our officers quickly swung into action upon receiving the alerts," Akinwande said. "At the accident scene, a male victim was recovered and handed over to a team of policemen from Yemetu Police Divisional Headquarters led by ASP Atiola Wasiu."
Akinwande emphasized that the swift response of the fire service helped to minimize casualties and prevent further damage, particularly in the fire outbreaks. He urged residents to always adhere to safety precautions and promptly alert emergency agencies in the event of accidents or fire outbreaks, stressing that timely intervention remains absolutely critical in saving lives and protecting property.
