The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State has announced a major operational deployment to manage traffic and ensure safety during the 2025 Christmas celebrations. The command is pulling out all the stops to handle the expected surge in vehicular movement into the state.
FRSC's Comprehensive Yuletide Deployment Plan
Mr. Apaji Boyi, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Bauchi State, revealed the details in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, December 23rd, 2025. He stated that the command has mobilized a significant force for the festive period.
The commander confirmed the deployment of 452 personnel alongside 12 patrol vehicles. To handle emergencies, the corps has also deployed five ambulances and one tow truck. Boyi emphasized that this is an annual preparation, and the command is fully conscious of the high volume of traffic anticipated.
"We are well prepared. We have deployed both personnel and logistics," Boyi said. "Presently, we are concentrating on the entrances to the state because people will be coming in from all the nooks and crannies." He added that patrol operations are ongoing to guarantee the safe movement of all vehicles and people entering Bauchi city.
Appeal to Road Users and Security Synergy
The Sector Commander assured the public of the corps's readiness to maintain traffic control for a free flow of vehicles. However, he issued a strong appeal to drivers and all road users. He urged them to avoid speeding, overloading of both passengers and goods, and to strictly adhere to all traffic rules and regulations.
"We must have it at the back of our minds that it is only the living that celebrate," Boyi cautioned, adding a prayer: "We pray by next year, we shall all be alive to celebrate yet another Christmas."
NSCDC and Police Bolster Security for Festive Season
In a related development, other security agencies in Bauchi State have also scaled up their operations for the Christmas and New Year period. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) announced the deployment of a massive 1,100 personnel.
According to a statement by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusuf, the deployment strategy includes both covert and overt operations. Personnel will conduct joint patrols in flashpoint areas, and provide protection for critical national assets, infrastructure, worship centres, parks, eateries, banks, and hotels.
The state Commandant has directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to be diligent, intensify patrols, and dominate public spaces. The public is advised to report any suspicious movements to the nearest NSCDC office.
Similarly, the Bauchi State Police Command, under Commissioner of Police Omolori Aliyu, has reassured residents of adequate security. In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, the CP directed all Area Commanders and Tactical Teams to remain proactive and vigilant.
The police also encouraged community cooperation, urging the public with the mantra: "If you see something, say something." They emphasized that communities are vital partners for effective policing during and after the festive celebrations.
