Multiple Vehicle Collision on Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway Leaves Two Injured

A serious road accident involving multiple vehicles occurred on the busy Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway, resulting in two persons sustaining various degrees of injuries. The incident happened when a truck attempting to overtake another vehicle lost control and collided with several other moving automobiles.

Details of the Vehicles Involved

The multiple auto crash involved four distinct vehicles according to official reports. An IVECO truck with registration number WDE 483 XB was identified as one of the primary vehicles, along with a M.A.N truck bearing plate number T 13532 LA. The collision also included an OPEL Safari car registered as FST 957 JJ and a MITSUBISHI Space Wagon with registration number KJA 933 HR.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), confirmed the incident through an official statement released in Abeokuta on Wednesday. The authority representative provided crucial details about the accident's impact on passengers.

Passenger Statistics and Emergency Response

The collision involved a total of 17 passengers comprising 12 male adults and 5 female adults. Fortunately, despite the severity of the crash, only two persons sustained injuries and no fatalities were recorded in this particular incident.

Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, with the injured persons immediately transported to hospital for medical attention. Their current condition remains under medical supervision as they receive necessary treatment for their injuries.

Recent Similar Incident in Ogun State

This accident follows another serious multiple vehicle collision that occurred recently in Ogun State. On November 17, a crash at Omoyele Junction on the Sagamu-Ikorodu Expressway resulted in more severe consequences.

That previous incident involved an unregistered Mack truck, a Toyota Highlander with registration number AKD 29 JZ, a Suzuki mini bus (popularly known as korope), and a motorcycle. According to TRACE's Akinbiyi, 15 persons (12 male and 3 female adults) sustained injuries in that collision.

The cause of the earlier accident was attributed to excessive speed by the truck driver, who lost control of the vehicle's brakes, resulting in the truck ramming into the Toyota, Korope, and motorcycle.

TRACE operatives and Police personnel were present at both accident scenes conducting rescue operations. The damaged vehicles were towed away from the roads, allowing normal traffic flow to resume in both instances.
