Major Crackdown on Road Traffic Offences in Zamfara
The Zamfara State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a significant operation against traffic violations, resulting in the impoundment of 146 vehicles for overloading. In a bold move against corruption, the command also arrested 22 drivers for attempting to bribe its marshals on duty.
Joint Patrol Leads to Multiple Arrests
According to a statement released by the State FRSC Spokesman, Isah Aliyu, in Gusau on 25th November 2025, the command's efforts are part of an intensified special patrol. The operation aims to apprehend violators of road traffic regulations, specifically targeting overloading and reckless driving. The statement further revealed that a joint special patrol with operatives of the NSCDC led to the arrest of ten additional overloaded vehicles just on Monday.
The Sector Command has noted a disturbing pattern of reckless behaviour among some commercial drivers. These drivers often speed excessively and overload their vehicles while passing through Zamfara State, creating hazardous conditions for all road users.
Sector Commander Issues Stern Warning to Motorists
The Sector Commander, CC Aliyu Ma'aji, has called on motorists and the general public to cooperate with FRSC personnel to promote a safe motoring environment across the state. He issued a stern warning during this special patrol operations for the ember months, stating that drivers with vehicles lacking proper registration or with obscured number plates will be apprehended.
CC Ma'aji reiterated the Corps' unwavering commitment to enforcing traffic laws and ensuring public safety on all major roads within Zamfara State. This crackdown underscores the FRSC's determination to curb practices that endanger lives and property.
