The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has taken a significant step to bolster its intelligence-driven operational capabilities with the graduation of participants from the Basic Intelligence Course 34/2026. The ceremony took place on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Nigerian Air Force School of Air Intelligence (NAFSAINT) in Makurdi, as announced in a statement on the NAF's official X handle.
Graduation Ceremony Highlights
Representing the Chief of Air Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Nnamdi Ananaba, the Director of Air Intelligence, Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Ukpong, hailed the graduation as a major milestone in the Air Force's ongoing commitment to developing highly skilled intelligence personnel. He emphasized that these officers are essential to supporting national security objectives.
Ukpong noted that Nigeria's evolving security challenges demand well-trained, mission-oriented intelligence officers who can effectively support counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations across the country. The course was specifically designed to equip participants with specialized knowledge in intelligence operations, operational analysis, security support, and mission-focused capability development.
Training Objectives and Outcomes
The training aimed to enhance the analytical, reporting, and decision-making capabilities of the participants, thereby improving operational efficiency within the Nigerian Air Force. Ukpong stressed the importance of generating credible and actionable intelligence to support operational effectiveness and strategic decision-making in modern warfare and security operations.
He urged the graduating personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, integrity, teamwork, and continuous self-development, aligning with emerging technological advancements and contemporary security realities. The graduation reflects the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to strengthening intelligence capacity development and advancing intelligence-led operations as a critical component of national security.
