FC Porto defender Jan Bednarek and his family were subjected to a terrifying robbery at their home in Porto, Portugal, on Friday evening. The incident occurred around 9:30 PM local time when the Polish international returned from a restaurant with his wife, Julia, and their daughter.
Armed Intruder Threatens Family
Upon arriving home, Bednarek surprised an intruder who was armed with a knife. The suspect threatened the footballer and his family before making off with jewellery valued at approximately £130,000. Fortunately, no one was physically harmed during the ordeal.
Investigation Underway
Portugal's PSP police initially responded to the scene but have since handed over the investigation to the Policia Judiciaria, the country's criminal investigation police. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Bednarek, 30, who joined FC Porto from Southampton, has not yet commented on the incident. The club recently secured their 31st league title, adding to the stress of the situation for the player and his family.
